Chronic pain

Pain always has its basis in the processing of sensory stimuli in the brain. The brain not only receives signals from the environment, but interprets them based on the information available to it. In order to understand pain, it is necessary not to think in monocausal terms. Pain is often caused by a variety of interrelated factors.

How does pain arise?

Pain is always the result of nociceptive stimuli. Nociceptive signals can be modulated at the spinal cord and brain stem level. There are areas in our nervous system that can both decrease and increase nociception. On

at the sensory level, other receptors can help overlay nociceptive signals. When we bump our knee on a table, our response is often to rub the painful area. The rubbing leads to an activation of

Mechanoreceptors overriding the nociceptors' "threat signals" (gate control theory). This leads to a weakening of the signal transmission. In slightly higher areas, in the

Brainstem, there are pain-suppressing neurotransmitters, which can also significantly influence our conscious perception of pain.

background

For many coaches it is a challenge, concrete

to give training instructions. Pain is individual and therefore the training should also be individually tailored to the respective person. Some studies show that in the case of chronic back pain, a targeted core

Exercising to eliminate pain can be just as useful as going for a walk. Therefore, it is advisable to choose the exercise or training strategy that is most likely to be executed. Diverse and varied exercise is common

makes more sense than doing the same thing over and over again.  The basic rule is that you should not train into the pain. It is often difficult for many to differentiate between discomfort and actual pain. It's always better to be passive

start, slowly approach its limit and continue to push its limit over time.

Our approach

We work primarily with athletes or sporty people. Since pain is best treated in a movement-oriented manner, it is advisable to have previous experience in the field of training. It is irrelevant whether you are a recreational or competitive athlete. Our solutions are always individually and also geared to the sport of the respective person. Because pain is specific, Does it make sense for us to always look at pain in the context of our customers' physical activity.

Our coaching

Basically, we start our coaching with a movement analysis. This can range from a gait analysis to an analysis of the painful movement patterns. From this we can best see how pain can best be combated. In our coaching we rely on active and passive measures. The active measures include intelligent training planning and an adapted selection of exercises. We work according to biomechanical, anatomical and neurological principles. Passive methods can be manual techniques, TENS or ligament techniques. We focus on the things that work best and avoid ineffective trends.
